In the past couple of years using Land Records in family history research has come into their own. When I started using land records, something like 30+ years ago, I rarely saw a mention of them in beginner guides and I can't remember being offered a session on them at genealogy conferences. I wondered why, because land records had given me information I could not have found otherwise and they often sent me to records I wouldn't have searched. Since information on using land records was relatively rare in 1999 I wrote a "how to" tutorial and posted it here on my website. Then in 2004 I updated it and now in 2006 I've expanded and updated the information and published it in a book. During my research for the book I realized some of the information here is now outdated - so once again I've updated this tutorial.
